How It Works
You decide where you want to go. We’ll help with the rest.
Joining a group of women you haven’t met yet and heading halfway around the world might sound like a big leap.
We make the process simple.
1. Find a trip that makes you want to pack a bag.
Explore the destinations, experiences and pace. We’ll spell out accommodations, what’s included, what isn’t and the physical demands so you can decide whether a trip is right for you.
There’s no magic age for a Probably Abroad traveler. What matters is that you can independently manage the trip’s demands, which may include long walks, stairs, uneven ground, heat, hiking, getting in and out of boats or vehicles, and carrying your day bag. You’ll know what to expect before you apply.
A little beyond your comfort zone? That’s welcome. We’ll prepare well, work with local experts and take sensible precautions. You decide where your edge is. You can be nervous and still go or say no. Nobody has anything to prove.
Do it scared. We’ve got you.
2. See if we’re your kind of people.
Before applying for a trip, you’ll take a short fit questionnaire.
This isn’t a personality test and there are no bonus points for being the most adventurous person in the room. It’s simply a quick way to see whether the way you like to travel matches the kind of trips we create.
Probably Abroad brings together women with different backgrounds, beliefs, religions, nationalities, sexual orientations and life experiences. One thing is non-negotiable: everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
Different is welcome. Disrespect isn’t.
3. Apply for the trip.
If it sounds like your kind of adventure, the next step is a brief trip application.
Our groups are intentionally small, usually just 8 to 10 women, so group chemistry matters. The application helps us learn a little about you, what you’re hoping for from the trip and anything we should know before traveling together.
This isn’t about assembling ten identical women. That sounds terribly boring.
We’re looking for women who can be curious, flexible, independent, kind and respectful of one another while having very different personalities and lives.
4. Reserve your spot.
If the trip looks like a good fit for both of us, you’ll receive an invitation to reserve your place.
Before you pay anything, you’ll know the price, payment schedule, cancellation terms, what’s included and what expenses you’ll be responsible for separately.
Once your deposit is received, your spot is yours.
5. We get you ready.
You will not be left wondering what shoes to bring, whether you need cash, what to wear into a temple or what on earth you’re supposed to do when you land.
Before departure, we’ll give you detailed trip information covering the things that actually matter for your destination. That may include packing, clothing, cultural customs, health preparation, travel insurance, money, transportation, arrival information, safety considerations and practical advice you’ll be glad you knew before leaving home.
We want you excited about the unfamiliar, not blindsided by it.
6. Show up.
You do not need to arrive with a travel partner. You do not need to know anyone else in the group. And you definitely do not need to pretend you aren’t a little nervous.
Bring your passport. Bring your curiosity. Bring a sense of humor.
We’ll take it from there.
You don’t need a plus-one. You need a passport.
